Man United Set To Maintain Winning Start Against Wolves

Manchester United will be aiming to maintain their winning start to the Premier League campaign as the Red Devils visit Wolves on Monday night football at the Molineux Stadium.

United crushed eternal rival, Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford in Frank Lampard’s managerial career as the London Club boss thanks to goals from James, Anthony Martial and a double from Marcus Rashford.

As for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, they played out a 0-0 draw on the opening weekend of the Premier League away at Leicester. Wanderers last played on Thursday, comfortably sweeping aside FC Pyunik 4-0 in the Europa League – and have now set up a play-off tie with Italian side Torino.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has clearly got his players playing in a style that attempts to get the best out of Paul Pogba while incorporating a center-forward and two inside forwards.

Marcus Rashford was a big positive for United last weekend. He was quick, mentally sharp and finished with precision. Not only that he seemed more aggressive in his play, too.

On the other hand, Wolves, unlike Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, are a mature team in terms of their tactical intelligence. They understand what is asked of them because they’ve done it a 100 times over.

Head to Head Record

The two sides have faced off against each other on 101 occasions, with United holding the better record. The Red Devils have claimed 48 victories, whereas Wanderers have prevailed 36 times. The two sides have also shared the spoils 17 times.

Despite this, Man Utd are without a win in their three previous encounters against Wolves. The first came last September, with the game ending in a draw. United were then knocked out of the FA Cup in March by Nuno’s men, before they once again defeated the Old Trafford side only two weeks later in the league by the same scoreline – damaging their top four hopes.

Quotable Quotes

Wolves’ Pedro Neto: ‘It’s a very big game but we want to win. We know that the team had a good record against Manchester United last year, and now we’ll try to do the same again this year.’

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: ‘I’m looking forward to the first hurdle, because you want to see the resilience and the robustness, that we can bounce back when the going gets tough.’

Predicted line-ups

Wolves predicted starting XI: Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny; Jimenez, Jota.

Manchester United predicted starting XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; Matic, Pogba; Lingard, Mata, Rashford; Martial.

Betting tips

The last six meetings between both teams have seen Wolves win three against Man United two in all competitions. However, it would be safe to bet that Man U to draw Wolves.
