Exclusive: Guillermo Perez Reveals Why La Liga Is Better Than The Premier League, Serie A

La Liga delegate in Nigeria, Guillermo Perez Castello has claimed the Spanish topflight is the best league in Europe despite the success of English teams in European competitions last season.

The Spaniard made this claim exclusively to Soccernet.ng following a press conference that revealed what fans should expect in the 2019/2020 season.

The La Liga chief pointed to the exploits of Spanish teams in European competitions over the last ten years as the reason why the Spanish topflight is the best league in Europe.

Spanish teams have won seven of the last 11 champions leagues and that shows the dominance of La Liga according to Guillermo.  “Well, we say it is the best cos when it comes to international competitions, the results are there. We don’t just want to say because we want to say it.” He told Soccernet.ng

“As I said in the last 11 champions league, we have won seven of them. We have won six of the last ten Europa Leagues. Our teams are actually the ones who perform the best in international competitions in the last decade.”

He also added that the best players in the world play in La Liga, saying players from the league has won the last ten Ballon d’Ors.

“We feel that is important, but of course, we also feel we have the best players. We won the last ten Ballon D’Ors. Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but last season it wasn’t one of them.”

“It was Luka Modric who also plays for La Liga. Most nominees are from La Liga. Also in the FIFA best, the winner was Luka Modric. In the best eleven team, five of the eleven players were from La Liga.”

He added further that UEFA club rankings showed that La Liga is the best league in Europe.  “Also if you have a look at the UEFA ranks, they rank the La Liga as the best league and when it comes to clubs, we have Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid are in the top four clubs and then we have Sevilla in the seventh position. So we feel we can say we are the best league.”
