Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his impressive goal-scoring form to the league as he netted the vita goal that ensured Arsenal overcome a ‘stubborn’ Burney side in Saturday’s Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was off the mark on game week one with a match-winner at St. James’ Park and the striker has scored twice in each of his previous three meetings with Burnley, making Dyche’s men his favourite opponent in England.
However, the Gunners didn’t disappoint at the Emirates as they pressed Burnley from the early part of the game and was rewarded with a goal thanks to Alexandre Lacazette’s slotted the ball into the net in the 13th minutes to send the home supporters into a frenzy.
Arsenal duo of Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock could have taken the game beyond Burnley’s reach as they were presented with shooting opportunities, only to put the ball off target.
The London club later paid dearly for their profligacy in front of goal as Ashley Barnes leveled scores in the 43rd minute to the dismay of the Arsenal supporters as the first half came to a close.
A few minutes later, Arsenal thought they are back in front but the offside flag ruled out Nelson’s goal. Monreal cuts the ball back down the left wing but the Spaniard appears to have strayed offside.
Their efforts later paid off as Aubameyang netted in the 64th minutes to the delight of Unai Emery and teammates.
All efforts for Burnley to equalize proved abortive as the Gunners snatched another precious three points to move top of the Premier League table pending the results of other teams.
