Watford have completed the signing of Nigerian U-20 international on a six-year deal after his contract expired with Manchester City.
The central midfielder made his debut for the Premier League champions in a Carabao cup encounter on December 2017, but did not feature for the team in the English topflight.
He represented the England U-16 but switched allegiance to Nigeria later. He was part of Nigeria’s U-20 team that played at the FIFA U-20 world cup in Poland, scoring the team’s third goal in their opening match against Qatar.
He joins the Hornets on a six-year deal and will be hoping to make his Premier League bow when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion on August 10.
A statement on Watford’s website read: Watford Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Nigerian Under-20 international Tom Dele-Bashiru on a six-year deal after his contract expired at Manchester City.
Shortly after the announcement, the youngster took to his twitter page to share his excitement saying: “very happy to announce the new chapter in my career, can’t wait to get started and play in front of you amazing fans.”
The 19-year-old midfielder is Manchester-born and has represented both England and Nigeria at youth level, scoring for the Flying Eagles in the Under-20 World Cup against Qatar in May.
