Transfers: Another Midfielder Signs New Deal At Chelsea

Mason Mount is the latest English talent to commit his future with Chelsea after he signed a new five-year deal at the club.  Mount’s decision comes after another English youngster in Loftus Cheek committed his long term deal with the Blues.

Mount was on loan at Derby under Frank Lampard last season and was one of Rams top performers as they reached the playoff finals.  He will get the chance to impress under Lampard once again this season after the former England international signed a three-year deal to become the club’s new manager.

Speaking to Chelsea website after signing the new contract, the Portsmouth born expressed his delight at signing the new deal.

‘It’s a massively proud moment for myself and my family. I joined this club at six years old and it was always my goal to play for the first team one day. I’m really looking forward to the coming season now and working hard to have an impact here at Chelsea. I’ve been at the club for a long time already and hopefully, I’ll stay for a long time to come.’

Blues director Marina Granovskaia also expressed her delight in seeing another academy graduate signing a new deal at the club.  ‘Mason has come right the way through the Chelsea Academy and has always stood out as a fantastic talent and dedicated individual.

We have monitored his development extremely closely while he has been out on loan and believe he is now ready to be a member of our squad competing at the top of the Premier League.”

‘Like another of our Academy graduates, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, we are delighted Mason has committed himself to the club this summer and look forward to an exciting future ahead.’

Mount was among the scorers in the Blues pre-season victory over Saint Patricks on Saturday.  He is expected to link up with the Blues squad as they take their pre-season tour to the far east in Japan.
