Real Madrid midfielder, Gareth Bale has told his manager, Zinedine Zidane that he won’t be travelling with the team to Germany for the Audi Cup.
Bale last week announced his readiness to compete for a shirt at the Bernebeu Stadium after he cancelled a move to the Chinese Super League.
With the La Liga season set to begin on August 16, the Wales star appears not certain to continue playing with Los Blanco after another round of bitter confrontation with Zidane.
The former Tottenham star was due to face his former employers on Tuesday night at the Allianz Arena in the Audi Cup.
However, it is understood that Bale is furious with his treatment at the hands of manager Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez and has not travelled.
In a now-infamous press conference, Zidane made it clear that the Wales international’s time at the club was over.
However, Perez subsequently called off a switch to Jiangsu Suning which would have earned Bale, 30, around £1million per week with Real chiefs not happy with the deal.
A 7-3 pre-season hammering at the hands of city rivals Atletico on Saturday is also thought to have impacted on the U-turn.
The deal collapsed after Real decided they wanted a bigger fee for Bale, who cost a world-record £86m in 2013 from Tottenham.
The player has not been given an explanation for the change of heart and has not received any assurances over his future in the Spanish capital.
At this stage of the window, an alternative move is unlikely with Bale convinced he will be left out of the picture, despite Perez hoping Zidane may be forced into a rethink.
Zidane was labelled ‘a disgrace’ by Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett for making his feelings about Bale’s future public.
