Team spirit behind our victory over Libya, says Kelechi Nwakali

Nigeria’s Dream Team VII midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali has revealed that the team spirit was the brain behind their victory over Libya on Monday.

Having lost the first leg 2-0 in Tunisia, the Imama Amapakabo’s led team upturned the result as Nigeria scored four goals at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba to progress to the third stage of the qualification series of the African Under-23 Cup of Nations.

Kelechi, who was part of the players that played against Atletico Madrid in an international friendly tie prior to the 2018 World Cup, told Soccernet.ng that he was delighted with the qualification of the team to the next round.

“I am so delighted with our win over Libya on Monday even though we have to battle it in a hard way. The victory shows the team spirit and determination to make the country proud and I am glad we won with a 4-0 margin.

“Losing the first leg 2-0 was like a day-dream for the players because we played well. The defeat really spur us to work more harder and the result really speak for itself.

“This is not the end of the whole encounter because we still have many games ahead of us and I am optimistic this team will go far.”
