Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr believes the future is bright for Paul Onuachu in the colours of the senior national team.
Onuachi only needed just 10 seconds to grab the headline on Tuesday when Nigeria defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in an international friendly encounter at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
It was his first goal for the Super Eagles after debuting against Seychelles last week Friday in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The 24-year old appears not only to have caught the attention of football lovers in Nigeria but also has gotten Rohr waxing his praises.
“He’s played twice but I think we have something special in this player,” coach Gernot Rohr told BBC Sport.
“We shouldn’t get too carried away. Onuachu gives us a different option and alternative in attack.”
In the other hand, fellow teammate, Leon Balogun has described Onuachu as a promising player that would make the Super Eagles attack sharp.
“At the first training I was like wow! He has a lot of potential and showed during the first session that he is special,” Balogun told BBC Sport.
“We just need to take it easy and not put him under too much pressure because he’s a quiet and focused young player.
“I am very happy to see a player of this quality in our team.”
