How Neymar makes millions from endorsments

Football is a game of entertainment, days after days we watch our favourite teams go through their best and worst periods for the main purpose of entertainment and triumph, however, aside from entertainment, one thing is also very crucial in the circle of the beautiful game, Money.

We see a lot of cases where major stars alongside talented rookies forfeit fame for money. We see players being rogues just for higher pay, but one can make good money from the Sport without making anyone around you sad or angry and one footballer who is making good money from the Sport is Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr.

Neymar has been catching the eye of major clubs since he was a teenager, his talent on the pitch can never go unnoticed and in 2013 at just 21, he left Santos to join Barcelona where he made a big name in World football. Since then, Neymar has been one of the game’s best players of this generation and surely money comes with this.

According to Forbes, Neymar is the 5th highest paid Athlete in the World in 2018, the third highest paid footballer. This is all due to his big-money move from Barcelona in which PSG paid a whooping sum of €222 million for his services. He currently earns an estimated $90 million annually of which $17 million comes from his numerous endorsement deals. Of course, a person like Neymar, not only handsome but can also play football really well, will always be one of the stars at the top when it comes to endorsement and sponsorship deals, we look at some of the major deals in the grasp of this magnificent footballer.

In the past, Neymar had partnered with big names such as Panasonic, Unilever, Police, Volkswagen, Rexona and a lot more and currently he’s having it really bigger than before of which his biggest deal is with Nike which he signed an 11-year contract with back in 2011. He was the first soccer player to have his own custom Air Jordan sneakers made by the Swoosh. A year later, he joined forces with Brazil’s leading car battery brand Baterias Helier.

After Neymar joined Barca in 2013, some other big names began rooting for his services including the beat electronic giant Beat by Dre who got their hands on the Brazil star in 2014. 2014 was a good year for Neymar endorsement wise as he also was made the brand ambassador of Gillette in Latin America.

Neymar also went on to strike some major big deals in 2017 including his major deal with luxurious wrist watch brand Gaga Milano of which he had a limited edition available under his brand name. In that same year Neymar was made a brand ambassador for McDonald’s after being seen appearing in numerous adverts of theirs. Proibida, Quantum and Handicap International also became partners with Neymar in 2017.

2018 was also a year to remember for the PSG forward in terms of endorsement deals. OPPO being one of his latest recruits after the deal was made official after the World Cup. Just last month, Qatar National Bank group announced Neymar as a brand ambassador making this his most recent deal. Gol Airline also hired him as their poster boy, he got a 2-year sponsorship deal with Rico Investimento and also was made a brand ambassador for Chinese electronic company TLC.

Some other major deals Neymar has under his belt includes Red Bull which makes a lot of Digital campaigns around him. Replay Jeans also has Neymar as a partner after striking a deal with him back in 2015. Cafe Pilao, NABUfits Global Aps, N&N Consultoria and NR Sports are also some of his affiliations.

More endorsements will surely come for the Brazilian star this 2019 although it’s very likely the player will focus more on getting more individual accolades as a footballer after falling short of major prizes in 2018.
