Chelsea are believed to battling AC Milan for free agent Brazilian winger Bernard, who is seen as a potential replacement for Willian.
Bernard, 25, is available on a free after his contract with Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk expired in June.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the player wants €3million for the next four or five seasons and his agents are demanding a high commission – something that is currently problematic for Milan and stopping the transfer from going through.
The player himself is keen on a switch to the San Siro, but the fact that nothing has yet been agreed has let the door open for Chelsea to swoop.
Indeed, both Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that Chelsea are pushing to sign the player, who would provide new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri with another attacking option out wide.
The report goes on to state that the London giants could make a better offer than Milan, if Manchester United and Barcelona target Willian does indeed move on.
However, the Brazilian admitted in a report on Tuesday that he was happy at Stamford Bridge and is not actively looking to leave the club – especially after Antonio Conte’s exit and Sarri’s arrival.
