Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi would be sitting out the team’s next African Cup of Nations qualifier fixture against Seychelles, due to injury concerns.
Nigeria continues in its journey to qualify for the AFCON 2019 after missing the two previous editions of the competition. Already missing Victor Moses who shockingly retired from the team, Mikel’s absence would deal the team another blow as it limits coach Rohr’s range of selection.
The 31-year-old Tianjin TEDA midfielder would be expected to make a return when Nigeria faces Libya in their third qualifier match in October.
The Super Eagles will open training camp on September 1 before flying out from Abuja to Seychelles for the encounter.
