Lanzini ruled out of this month World Cup

Argentina attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini has been ruled out of this month World Cup after picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training.

The 25-year-old West Ham star damage his knee after he was included in was named in Jorge Sampaoli’s 23-man squad last month and he will miss the beginning of 2018-19 Premier League season.

Lanzini was expected to start Argentina’s opening Russia 2018 fixture against Iceland next week and the injured star will force La Albiceleste manager to change his plans.

However, Argentina took their Twitter page on Friday to confirmed the news but they are yet to announce a replacement for Lanzini.

“Manuel Lanzini suffered, in today’s morning training, the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee,” the translated statement read.

Lanzini started Argentina’s 4-0 friendly win over Haiti last week and he will become the second players to ruled in the Mundial for South America nation after Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
