Rohr shouldn’t ignore Joel Obi – Dosu

Ex-international, Dosu Joseph has called on the technical crew of the Super Eagles led by Gernot Rohr not to drop the services of Torino midfielder, Joel Obi from the team ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Joel made his comeback to the Super Eagles fold in the team’s 1-0 win over Poland and 2-0 lose to Serbia in an international friendly match that was played last month (April).

Having displayed a good performance for Torino this season, the Atlanta Olympic Gold medalist in the men’s football told soccernet.com.ng that Joel still remains a valuable asset for the team at the World Cup.

“I really don’t think it’s a bad idea to have Joel Obi in the Super Eagles fold in preparation for the World Cup based on his performance for Torino,” Dosu told Soccernet.com.ng

“Besides, going by his performance against Poland and Serbia, it is left for the technical crew to decide on his future with the senior national team.

“However, I am sure that he would be a great asset for the team at the World Cup considering the fact that we can’t be depending on Mikel Obi always.”

Joel got is Super Eagles debut under Samson Siasia in Nigeria’s  2-1 win over Sierra Leone at the National Stadium in Lagos in February 2011.
