Luis Suarez hails magical Messi

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez says it’s a privilege to play with the best in the world after Lionel Messi’s show of class on Saturday ensured the Argentine reigned as the King of the derby with 18 goals against Espanyol.

As Espanyol sank to a 5-0 defeat, Suarez took on the role of a support attacker and helped set chances up for teammates in and around the penalty area.

Messi was of course the star of the show as he registered his 38th hat-trick for the Blaugrana, leadingto the former Liverpool star singing his praises in his post-match interview with Movistar.

“It is a privilege to play with the best in the world, he continues to show that people have a long way to catchhim.” Suarez said as quoted by MARCA

Real Madrid’s failure to win at home to Levante earlier in the afternoon presented Ernesto Valverde’s team with an opportunity to build a four point gap between themselves and Los Blancos.

The victory ensured this, with Suarez himself making abundantly clear the value of every point in such a tight title race.

“They are three important points because they allow us to take advantage of our direct rivals slipping up, but of course, it is only the third match of the season.”

A knee injury looked like keeping the Salto born forward out of action until at least the middle of September, yet the 30-year-old has recovered ahead of schedule and he feels the best way to improve the strength of his knee is to continue to play.
