Liverpool ready to sell Coutinho for €150m

There’s claims Liverpool will sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a set price.

That’s the blockbuster claim of Daily Record and Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles.

Speaking onThe Transfer Window podcast, he said: “Coutinho is being priced at €150m (£137) by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are asking pretty much the same for Ousmane Dembele.

“Barcelona are already in a very difficult place after losing Neymar against their will and losing to Real Madrid (in the Super Cup) intensifies that problem.

“In the background to this, while Liverpool were briefing the press that there had only been one bid from Barcelona, the €80 (£72m) bid, and that Barcelona had not come back and made any offers to them or further discussions, the reality was Liverpool were speaking to Barcelona and negotiating a deal and had told Barcelona the price they were looking for was €150m (£137m).”

  • Barcelona was quick to demand the full 200 mil for neymar upfront, so Liverpool should do the same to them.

    • Dear Denzil,
this is quite a different situation since Barcelona never agreed but the Release clause was activated and the club who activates it has to pay up front legally.
Liverpool have no release clauses (it is not usual in english football) but internal set prices - 150 million is way to much for a player who has never dragged a team to a trophy nor been constant over 1 whole season. Dont get me wrong, i love Coutinho and hope he will be exactly that player - but i would say 100 Mill. is closer to where he stands in his career than 150 Mill.

    • No player is worth 100/150/200 Million, but given Coutinho has recently signed a 5 year contract, Liverpool have the right to say No for any offers for a player they don't want to sell. A player submitting a transfer request is irrelevant. What's more worrying for Barcelona, is that they can only afford Coutinho's offered fee over 5 years, with a lot of unrealistic add-on's. No wonder Liverpool rejected the bid so quickly... If the boot was on the other foot, I'd expect Barcelona to do the same. Time to look elsewhere.

  • Seri signed by Barca as per Radio Monticarl1...confirmed by Guillem Balague....150 M is way too much..Barca should not make another offer...let Liverpool continue with a player who sent a Transfer request....!!

    • Fully agree. We should try get Hazard. He is the closest there is Neymar. Ideally, Hazard, Seri and Dembele would shore up the squad beautifully. Sell Arda, Munir, Vermaelen, Gomes, and possibly Mascherano. I like Arda and Mascherano but they don't seem to feature in Valverde's plans.I want us to keep our la masia graduates and perhaps loan them out.

  • All Barca fans, atleast think about one think. Despite their recent struggles still Liverpool are 8th biggest club globally above juves. Am not saying Forbes saying. You guys just talk about Coutinho price. That is may be 80/90 million. But why would Liverpool accept it when he doubtlessly signed a 5 year contract without a release clause. A club of Barca stature should do business seriously like psg did rather than using press to push a transfer. If serious about him pay 120 plus upfront or just forget.
