Dembele plays down Neymar comparison

Barcelona latest signing Ousmane Dembele says Neymar is one of the best in the world and insists he is at Camp Nou to develop and improve.

Barcelona were finally able to present Ousmane Dembele to supporters on Monday following a summer of transfer difficulties especially after the departure of Neymar to PSG in a World record deal.

According to MARCA, just fewer than 20,000 fans were present at the Camp Nou when Dembele was unveiled in the traditional manner after penning a five-year contract with Los Cules. The player who faced questions from assembled media was keen to distance himself from the idea that he will replace Neymar.

“I am delighted to be here, it is a dream come true to sign for Barcelona and I want to win the maximum possible number of matches. This is the best team in the world and I have to settle well.

“Neymar is one of the best in the world, he is an excellent player, whereas I’m coming from just my second season as a professional hoping to develop and improve.”

“I am not aware of the exact economic amount. The only thing that matters to me is getting started and playing football here.”

The Blaugrana have parted with a club record fee believed to be in the region of €150m, 100 of which will be paid up front to Borussia Dortmund.
