NPFL: Odey fires brace as MFM beat Plateau Utd

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) hot-shot, Stephen Odey netted a brace to increase his goal tally to 10, as Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC secured vital 2-1 home win against leaders Plateau United at the ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium, Lagos on Sunday.

‘Goal-machine’ Odey opened scoring for the Olukoya Boys from Olatubosun’s assist late in the first half. Peter Eneji equalized for the visitors in the 62nd minute, Odey scored again from the penalty spot late in the 88th minute to secure MFM’s victory against Kennedy Boboye’s tutored squad.

Elsewhere at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Nnewi, FC Ifeanyi Ubah defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 3-2 in a keenly contested clash. Prince Aggreh scored a brace to put the Anambra Warriors in front 19th and 28th minutes respectively.

Vetran midfielder, Isiaka Olawale reduced score-line for the Ladan Bosso tutored side in the 52nd minute, Ibrahim Babangida equalized for El-Kanemi in the 84th minute; before substitute Ifeanyi Onuigbo scored the match-winner from the penalty spot on the stroke of 90 minutes, to end the tie 3-2 at full time.

Former champions, Kano Pillars defeated Gombe United 2-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Musa Najare grabbed a brace in the 51st and 73rd minutes respectively.

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC played out a 1-1 draw with visiting Enyimba International FC in Ilorin. Captain Mfon Udoh scored for the Peoples’Elephant quite early in the second half, while Stone Evbuomwan equalized from the penalty spot for the home team in the 83rd minute.

Both Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Abia Warriors settled for scoreless draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba in Ibadan. Lobi Stars and Nasarawa United also ended their game goalless in Makurdi.

Wikki Tourists defeated Katsina United 2-1 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi. Victor Yakubu scored from the penalty spot four minutes into the match, Katsina United equalized through Destiny Ashadi in the 47th minute, before Peter Ambrose netted the winner in the 80th minute for the Bauchi side.

Niger Tornadoes won their game 1-0 against Akwa United. The Promise Keppers ended the tie with 10-men away from home, as Emmanuel Ariwa was sent off in the 73rd minute. Ifeanyi Okoye scored the only goal in the 28th minute for Tornadoes.
