Iwobi Set To Face West Brom

By Augustine Akhilomen

After missing the Gunners Champions League 5-1 defeat at the Emirates a fortnight ago against Bayern Munich and their 5-0 win over Lincoln City in the FA Cup quarter final, Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi will be targeting a return to the first team as Arsenal face West Brom at the Hawthorns Stadium in Saturday’s Premier League early kick-off tie.

The Nigerian international could start from the bench considering the fact that Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger may want to keep faith on Alex Chamberlain in the midfield.

Iwobi, who has managed just three goals in 22 Premier League matches this term will be hoping to add to his goal tally if called upon by Wenger.

Under-fire Arsene Wenger is aware that he cannot afford to miss out on three points in the West Midlands if he is to ease the pressure surrounding his current contract discussions with the club.

Saturday’s match will represent the 138th in which these two teams have met in a competitive fixture, with West Brom previously registering 37 victories in comparison to 70 victories for Arsenal.

However, the Baggies have only recorded one triumph in their last 13 attempts, which came at The Hawthorns in November 2015 when they ran out 2-1 winners.
