NPFL: Enyimba sign 2 Ghanaians

Enyimba have signed experienced Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda and defender Tijani Joshua to beef up their squad ahead of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

This is according to a statement posted on the club’s website on Saturday.

The statement said Fatau joined the Peoples’ Elephant on a two-year deal, having agreed personal terms.

“The 31-year-old, who has played in South Africa with Orlando Pirates and Chippa United, arrived in Aba with quite an impressive resume, having been part of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008 and 2013.

“The Peoples’ Elephants lost goalkeepers Femi Thomas, Moses Ocheje and a former U-17 stopper, Joshua Enaholo, for different reasons in this transfer window, leaving the club with just one senior goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai.

“The 2008 Goalkeeper of the Year in Ghana (Fatau) was last on the books of Ghana Premier League outfit Ashanti Gold SC,” it said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Enyimba have also signed defender Tijani Joshua from Ghanaian club Ashanti Gold, to further beef up the squad ahead of the new season.

Enyimba will take on Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on Jan. 15 in their Match Day 1 fixture of the new league season.
