Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre says Lionel Messi will sign his new contract in the New Year.
Despite claims that everything has been settled between the two parties, Mestre concedes pen won’t be put to paper anytime soon.
“We have not yet started negotiations for the renewal of Messi,” he told El Mundo Deportivo.
‘But after those of Neymar and Luis Suarez, there is the hope to close in the first quarter of the year.”
Messi is mooted to have received a staggering €100 million-a-year contract offer from Hebei Fortune China.
