Nigeria’s Sand Eagles gave good account of themselves by thrashing Morocco 6-1 at the Eko Atlantic Beach on Saturday to qualify for the final and also grabbed a ticket for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas next year.
Nigeria scored first early in the first quarter through Emmanuel Ohweferi, Morocco equalized few minutes after in the game. Abu Azeez put Nigeria in the lead again; Suleiman Ogodo made it 3-1 for Nigeria in the second quarter.
Soon after, Emeka Ogbonna scored from a distance to extend the lead, Emmanuel Ohweferi scored his second goal of the night from the penalty spot; while Abu Azeez completed the rout with a brace towards the end of the third quarter.
With the 6-1 result, Nigeria booked a ticket to play in the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas, and also set-up a final game on Sunday against another West African country, Senegal who defeated Egypt 5-2 earlier in the day.
