FC Barcelona linked with Anthony Martial |
Merry Christmas! FC Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester United winger Anthony Martial but will face a tough battle with England team West Ham United according to various reports in France.
The website Get Football French News alongside France Football report that Barça have made a move to sign the 21-year old Frenchman who joined Manchester United from French giants Monaco only last season. According to the report, Barça have even made contacts with the player’s agent for a possible transfer a couple of weeks ago but haven’t followed that up with strong force.
Barça will face a tough fight from West Ham United who are also interested in signing the youngster as they look to improve their squad after a lacklustre start to the 2016/2017 season. Again, not only West Ham and Barça are interested in Martial, in fact both these teams doesn’t even look to be close to signing him, but there have been strong reports recently that Spanish giants Sevilla are heavily interested in his services and it might just be happening soon.
The report is quite unconvincing and truth be told the chances of Barça signing Martial is very slim as coach Luis Enrique already sees Arda Turan as a decent backup for Neymar who’s still only 24 and has so many years at the club as he’s just signed a Long-term contract extension. Another reason Barça won’t be signing Martial is that they have a large economic issue and a goal to renew talisman Lionel Messi whose contract ends in 2018 and finally, a winger isn’t what the club is looking for right now, they’re currently in the market for a right back so it’s some 2% chance that Barça will be signing this lad. Once again, Merry Christmas.
