Barcelona agree deal to sign Joao Cancelo – Report

Barça to sign João Cancelo
Valencia right-back João Cancelo is set to become FC Barcelona’s next first team recruitment as the Catalán club have agreed to sign the Portuguese starlet from Los Che next summer according to reports in Spain.
In a report made by Catalán source SPORT, Barcelona have reached an agreement with the player that will see him join Lionel Messi and Co at the Camp Nou next summer with a 5-year deal agreed pending official confirmation which won’t be done until the end of the season.
Barça see Cancelo as a worthy signing as they look to strengthen their right side, they consider him as a strategic signing for the future as he’s still 22. According to SPORT, representatives from Barcelona met with Cancelo’s agent Jorge Mendes who suggested that his client should join in January, but Barça stated they’d prefer a summer arrival, the fee for the transfer is still unclear.
Cancelo asked Valencia not to accept any offer in the winter as he looks forward to joining Barça, Bayern Munich and Chelsea were interested parties. The final stage of negotiation is crossing the club who may want to offer Cancelo an improved contract, they ask no less than 30 million euros for his signing.
With the departure of legendary right back Dani Alves to Juventus in the summer, Coach Luis Enrique stated that he places his trust on Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal for the position, it’s working fine but the position isn’t as solid as it used to be especially in big games where the opponents mount great pressure, Barça are looking for a natural right-back to fill that space and they see Cancelo as a capable player.
