FC Barcelona Copa del Rey Champions 2015/2016 |
FC Barcelona return to action this weekend after a hectic two weeks of international game when they take on Deportivo La Coruña in their 8th game of the 2016/2017 La Liga season at the Camp Nou as they continue their bid to defend the title.
Aside from La Liga, Barça will be on a mission to defend one more title of which they won in the previous two seasons, the Copa del Rey. Barça did well to defend the crown last season after goals from Jordi Alba and Neymar gave them a 2-0 final win over Sevilla to secure their 27th honour in the competition.
The Catalans will be looking to make it three consecutive wins this season and they will return in action in November. The club now know their possible opponent for the third round of the tournament, the round of 32 which is Barça’s first round.
As the rules state, teams that feature in European Championships (UEFA Champions League and Europa League) will play against a team from the Segunda B or a fourth tier team in the Round of 32 and in Barça’s case, according to the RFEF regulation, the possible opponents are made of five clubs from Segunda B and one from the fourth tier division.
The Segunda B teams Barça could face are Guijuelo, Racing de Santander, Toledo, Hércules and Cultural Leon while their only possible opponent from the fourth tier is Formentera who qualified after beating Tudelano on penalties.
The draw will be held on Friday, October 14 at 12:00pm CET. First games of the round will be played on November 30 and the return game
