NPFL: Wikki back on top as Ikorodu beat Tornadoes

Warri Wolves tasted defeat at home after their 1-0 defeat to Nigeria Professional ‎Football League (NPFL) big spenders FC IfeanyiUbah at the Warri Township Stadium, which put them in dreaded relegation zone.

Also at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, former league winners Kano Pillars defeated title contenders Rivers United by the same 1-0 scoreline with former Super Eagles striker Gambo Mohammed getting the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute off an Adamu Mohammed assist.

Heartland FC of Owerri climed out of the drop zone after their 1-0 win over Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), at home through Emeka Atuloma’s 10th minute strike, while Federation Cup champions Akwa United also recorded a 1-0 win over Lobi Stars at home courtesy of Babangida Hassan’s 21st minute strike.

At the Maidiguri Township Stadium in Borno, El-kanemi Warriors edged out continental hopefulsSunshine Stars 3-2 in what was a five-goal thriller. Hussaini Bata got a brace for the home side to lead his team to victory in addition to Taye Isiaka (OG), while Samad Kadiri and Alaba Adeniyi got the goals for the away side.
