Douglas Pereira and Sergi Samper leave Barcelona |
FC Barcelona have confirmed the departures of two first team players: Douglas Pereira and Sergi Samper with two two players joining Sporting Gijon and Granada respectively on loan deals for one season.
SERGI SAMPER JOINS GRANADA
Barça have been very busy in the transfer market, signing five players already with Alcacer likely to be the sixth. The Catalan club brought in two midfielders in Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes this summer to join the likes of Arda Turan, Andres Iniesta, Rafinha Alcantara, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic in that position meaning newly promoted youngster Sergi Samper will find it difficult to feature in the first team.
Barça know they have a gem in Samper and want him to develop elsewhere, in a club where he will have a lot of minutes and mature as a footballer. They have reached an agreement with Granada and the midfielder has joined them for a season. It is good news for all parties as Samper will have a chance to develop under Paco Jemez, a coach with high intelligence and a great understanding of the game.
Samper joined FC Barcelona at the age of six and has been at the club ever since then, he’s played in all age categories for the club being the only player to do so. Now he’s 21, he played in 103 games for Barça B and featured in 12 games for the first team.
DOUGLAS PEREIRA JOINS SPORTING GIJON
Barça fullback Douglas Pereira also joined Spanish club Sporting Gijon on a one year loan. The Brazilian player signed for Barça from Sao Paulo in the summer of 2014 but found it hard to make it into the team. He has won a total of 8 trophies for the club but only featured in 8 games where he won 4 and drew the other 4 in a Barcelona shirt.
Coach Luis Enrique has made it clear that Douglas isn’t part of his plans for the new season as he will be depending on Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal for the right back spot.
