CAF U-20 Qualifier: No Hiding Place For Sudan – Amunike

Ahead of
Saturday’s 2017 Africa U-20 Nations Cup second leg qualifier at the
Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Flying Eagles coach, Emmanuel Amunike
says the team will take the Sudanese side to the cleaner in a bid to
book their ticket for Zambia.

The team who won the first leg
2-1 a fortnight ago in Omdurman are just a step away from qualifying for
the football showpiece as a draw or win would be enough for the team.

Besides,
in Wednesday’s friendly match, the team were held 2-2 by Remo Star as
an own goal scored by Oche Salefu and a strike from Orji Okonkwo put the
Flying Eagles ahead before goals from Ekenne Awaze and Onu handed Remo
Stars a share of the spoils from the encounter that saw Samuel Chukwueze
miss a penalty kick.

However, Amunike who won the Africa
Cup of Nations in 1994 as player and led the Golden Eaglets to lift the
U-17 FIFA World Cup in Chile in 2015, told soccernet.com.ng that there
would be no hiding place for Sudan on Saturday.

“The task of
qualify the Flying Eagles to the 2017 Africa U-20 Nations Cup is
gradually coming to an end considering the fact that the team is just a
step close to achieving it,” Amunike told soccernet.com.ng

“Of
course we are aware that the Sudanese team won’t come to Nigeria to
count bridges because they are also targeting a ticket to play in
Zambia.

” The truth is, there will be no hiding place for them on
Saturday because my team are in good shape to do a double on them.” he
said.
