Manchester City have begun talks over a new, improved contract for Nigeria starlet Kelechi Iheanacho despite a row by agents over who should represent him, AfricanFootball.com reports.
“Manchester City have offered Kelechi a new contract and now discussions are going on in this respect,” a source told AfricanFootball.com
The source further maintained that the contract talks have not been held back by a row about who his agents are.
“It’s not true that these talks were held up by the issue who should now represent him. That matter is before the FA and it will soon be resolved,” he further informed.
US-based First Eleven and Stellar Group are contesting ownership of the player.
Nineteen-year-old Iheanacho has impressed in his debut season at The Etihad after coming through the club’s academy.
He has made a total of 26 appearances in all competitions mostly as a substitute, but he has scored nine goals including a hat-trick in the FA Cup against Aston Villa.
He has also now been capped at full international level by Nigeria after he represented the country at U17 and U20 levels.
