Super Eagles’ Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi has been named in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Week for Matchday seven, following his 11th career MLS brace over San Jose Earthquake over the weekend.
Adi, 25, was named alongside former Tottenham and Villareal forward Giovani dos Santos and Fabian Castillo in attack. Speaking to his club’s official website on his side’s return to winning ways after the home victory over San Jose Earthquake, Adi said: “The first half you see it wasn’t really amazing, but in the second half we came out in high spirit and we did well in the second half and got the very important goals.”
Other players in the team of the week are Nick Rimando, Steven Beitashour, Laurent Ciman, Demar Phillips, Justin Meram, Ignacio Piatti, Jermaine Jones, Andreas Ivanschitz, Giovani dos Santos, Fabian Castillo.
