Adebayor pleased with Leroy’s appointment

Togo and Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor says the employment of their new coach in Claude Leroy will benefit the country.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal hitman spoke on his official Facebook page, saying he supports the new manager.

Leroy was unveiled last week as the new Togolese manager replacing former Free State Stars and Zimbabwe national team coach Tom Saintfiet.

The former Congo, Senegal, DR Congo and Cameroon signed a three-year deal and will be assisted by his usual sidekick Sebastien Minier.

“With all the talent we have in Togo, our national team deserves a competent manager,” said Adebayor.

“I am glad to see that we are making progress, and naming Claude Le Roy as the new coach is a huge step forward.

“It was great meeting with him here in London. This is all I ever wanted for my country… positivity.”

Meanwhile, the Hawks remain placed at number three in Group A of the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers with seven points from four matches and they face Liberia in their next assignment in June.
