Nigeria’s league champions Enyimba have moved a step closer to the second round of the CAF Champions League following a comprehensive 5-1 win over Vital’O of Burundi at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Stephen Chukwude and star man Mfon Udoh got two goals apiece for a 4-0 lead before Hussein Shaban grabbed a 76th minute consolation for the away side but former Nasarawa United midfielder Ugochukwu Leonard made it a more comprehensive 5-1 win for Enyimba.
The second leg takes place in Bujumbura in a fortnight with Vital’O needing at least four unreplied goals to progress to the next round at the expense of Enyimba. The winner faces the winner of the tie between Olympique Khouribga of Morocco and Tunisian side Etoile Du Sahel.
