Super Eagles and Rangers striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, opened his Scottish FA Cup goalscoring account for the year in his side’s 5-0 win over Fraserburgh, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 30-year-old was drafted into the Gers’ starting lineup for the first time in 2025 after falling out of favour at Ibrox. Rangers boss, Philippe Clement has consistently chosen Hamza Igamane and Danilo over the Nigerian.
Dessers had a chance to break the deadlock inside seven minutes, but missed a gaping goal, sending the ball out wide. Nonetheless, he made up for the missed chance in the 27th minute. The former Cremonese striker headed home from a corner kick.
Clinton Nsiala doubled Rangers’ lead in the 52nd minute before Dessers added the game’s third five minutes later. This time, the Super Eagles maintained his composure to tap home from close range.
Ross McCausland scored the fourth goal of the game for Philippe Clement’s side, who were now in cruise control. It was the first goal in Rangers colours for the 21-year-old.
Dessers completed his hat-trick-a-treat in the 90th minute, tapping home from close range. After falling down the pecking order in the past month, a trio on the night will do the striker a whole world of good.
Dessers has been linked with a move away from Rangers during the January transfer window. Although the striker has admitted considering an exit, his display this evening might have caused a change of heart.
