West Ham sign Emmanuel Emenike

The English Premier League side has confirmed the loan signing of the retired Nigerian international striker.
Emmanuel Emenike will be at West Ham until the end of the season with an option of making the deal permanent.
Before his arrival at the Boleyn Ground, the Nigerian striker was on loan at Al Ain FC on a one-year deal from Fenerbahce but it was cut short to facilitate his move to England.
The 28 year old was part of the third Nigerian team to win the 2013 African Cup of Nations – Nigeria’s first continental victory since 1994. His four goals proved crucial to Nigeria’s progress through the tournament, and he was named to the African Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament.

Ex-Spartak Moscow ace Emenike said: “I have always known West Ham as a great club.

“I’ve always been watching them. West Ham’s a great club and I’m happy to be here.

“I’ve known Bilic for years. When he was at Lokomotiv Moscow, I was at Spartak Moscow, then he came to Besiktas and I was in Fenerbahce, so we’ve known each other for a long time.

“I’m happy to be here and happy to play for him.”

Emenike became the Hammer’s second winter signing coming after the purchase of Sam Byram. He came into the side to replace outgoing Mauro Zárate and provide cover for the injury-prone Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho.
