Nigeria’s Greatests In The English Premier League

By: John Hawthorne

The English Premier League is one of the main leagues still in progress and attracting a global audience.

We can be sure that bookmakers are already offering punters free bets and the best free bet offers.

Given that we will be glued on our television sets trying to champion our beloved EPL teams. We saw it fit to remind you that there are Nigerian players that also feature in big leagues around the world. Below we sample a few on them who have excelled in the EPL.

Celestine Babayaro

He goes down as one Nigerian player who have played for one club for seven straight seasons. For seven years, Babayaro filled Chelsea’s full-back position a position he was assigned to after he transferred from Anderlecht.

In his years at Chelsea football club, he was part of the teams that scooped the UEFA Super Cup in the last decade of the 20th century “1998” and the FA Cup in
2000.

After his tenure with The Blues, Babayaro moved to another club in the league, Newcastle.

Punters remember him for his trademark
backflips and the way he risked his defence position and dash forward.

Osaze Odemwingie

He gained instant fame after transferring from Lokomotiv Moscow and joined West Brom.

Osaze’s went down as West Brom’s first player to score in four consecutive matches. The Nigerian player is the sixth man to have bagged the Premier League Player of the Month award twice in a single season.

After a rather misfortune event with West Brom’s management, Osaze transferred to Cardiff City for six months and was later bought by Stoke City where he is one of the key players In the 2015/2016.

Kanu Nwankwo

Kanu goes down as one of, if not the best
and most successful Nigerian football player. After undergoing a heart surgery and moving to the EPL from Inter Milan, Kanu became a cult hero.

He is reputed for being the best substitute ever; this is because he would net in critical goals after coming off the bench as opposed to being a starter.

One match that went down in history and one that led many punters to take advantage of bookmakers best free bet offers is when he came in as a substitute and scored three goals under fifteen minutes. Kanu ensured that The Gunners went home the winners coming from a two-nil position.

Other than football; Kanu is renowned for his generosity. He founded the Kanu Heart Foundation, and he uses this foundation to help children with holes in their hearts. He says the organization helps him spread the luck he had when he got his heart mended thanks to playing football.
