“It’s a no-brainer” – Ex-Manchester United scout breaks silence on Ola Aina’s potential move to Manchester City

Former Manchester United and Blackburn scout, Mick Brown, has shared his opinion on Manchester City’s interest in Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, Soccernet.ng reports.

Aina has been excellent for Nottingham Forest this season, and has been labelled by many as the best right-back in the league as far as this campaign is concerned.

Still, the former Chelsea defender is in a little dilemma regarding his future. The 28-year-old’s contract at the City Ground runs out in June, and he is free to enter into pre-contract agreements with any club.

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are breathing down the neck of the Nigerian as they look to shore up their defence. This is primarily because of the injury problems they had in the first half of the season while factoring in Kyle Walker’s rapid decline.

Brown, who is well-versed with in-depth knowledge of the details of the transfer market, revealed Manchester City stand no chance of signing the former Torino full-back, as Nottingham are preparing to table a huge contract offer.

“They [Nottingham Forest] are desperate to get him tied down. I’d expect those talks to progress quickly, and I think they’ll be edging closer to that agreement. From what I know, he’s very happy there and they want him to stay, so it’s a no-brainer. I remember watching Aina as a youth player at Chelsea, then he went to Hull City and somewhere else, and then he went to Italy and kept improving his game.

“When he came back and went to Forest, I was interested to see how he did because he’s always been a good player, but now he’s really stepped up a gear. He’s strong defensively, gets his foot in to win the ball and he can play going forward, he’s a good technician, and he’s done brilliantly.

“They’re definitely looking to keep him at the club because he has been so impressive and they are putting together something that’s really worked for them this season,” the former Tottenham Hotspur scout said in an interview with Football Insider.

Aina has been an integral part of Forest’s impeccable run this season, and without a doubt, will want to see it through to the end. Nottingham Forest are currently third on the English Premier League table, six points above Manchester City.
