Liverpool vs Manchester United: Tantalising Facts of 122 years of Titanic Fights

For the 194th time in league history, the Reds and the Red Devils go head to head in one of the most anticipated fixtures in the season calendar. Considered to be one of the biggest rivalries in world football, the two most successful English teams in both domestic and European competitions will face off on Sunday at Anfield to decide who takes away the bragging rights this season.
Ahead of the titanic clash, SoccerNet Nigeria highlights some of the most engaging facts and stats.
#1 Ryan Giggs is the Manchester United player with the most appearances against Liverpool, facing the Reds 48 times and scoring five times.
#2 Steven Gerrard is one of only three Liverpool players to have scored the most goals against the Red Devils, banging in 9 goals in 35 showings. The others are Sandy Turnbull (9 in 10 games) and George Wall (9 in 12 games).
#3 Between them, Liverpool and Manchester United share 38 league titles, the most of any sides. Liverpool with 18 league wins and Manchester United with 20.
#4 Only five Liverpool players have ever transferred directly to play for their arch rivals, Manchester United, while only four United players have ever gone in the opposite direction. The last of such transfers happened over 50 years ago!
#5 Manchester United have won 66 games, Liverpool have 55 wins, while 44 games have been drawn. United, however, have had the upper hand in this fixture recently, having won the last three encounters, with Louis Van Gaal in charge.
