Under-23 AFCON hosts Senegal booked their place in the semi-finals of the competition, following their 2-0 win over Tunisia in Dakar on Tuesday.
With six points to their name after back-to-back victories against South Africa and their opponents of the day, the Senegalese are now assured of a spot in the last four.
Espérance Tunis midfielder Ali Abdi came close to opening the scoring five minutes into the game, but that was ultimately Senegal who broke the deadlock through defender Ibrahima Diedhiou three minutes later.
Tunisia got a penalty appeal turned down on 15 minutes after Club Africain forward Seifeddine Jaziri was fouled inside the box, allowing the tournament hosts to take a narrow one-goal lead into the break.
The Senegalese kept up the pressure on their opponents in the second half, forcing keeper Sabri Ben Hassine to make a couple of great saves to keep the North Africans hopes alive.
But Mouhamed Habib Diallo sealed the win and the qualification for the young Lions with five minutes to go.
Tunisia and South Africa, who defeated Zambia 3-2 earlier this Tuesday, will battle for the second semifinals ticket on Friday.
