Osimhen, Etebo bag nominations for CAF awards + Full Nominee List


On Monday, the Confederation of African Football announced the nominees for the other categories for the 2015 Glo-CAF Awards and five Nigerian players are in the running to pick up awards next month in Abuja.

Golden Eaglet skipper Kelechi Nwakali has been nominated for the Youth Player of the Year and will have to see of the challenge of compatriot Victor Osimhen,Adama Traore,Samuel Diarra (both Mali) and Yaw Yeboah (Ghana).

Paris Saint-Germain defender Ngozi Ebere would step into the shoes of Asisat Oshoala if she is chosen ahead of Gabrielle Onguéné,Gaelle Enganamouit (both Cameroon),N’rehy Tia Ines (Ivory Coast) and Ghanaian Portia Boakye in the Women Player of the Year Category.

Nigeria U23 internationals Azubuike Okechukwu and Etebo Oghenekaro were both nominated for the Most Promising Talent Award alongside Algeria U23s star Zinedine Ferhat,Mahmoud Abdelmonem and Djigui Diarra.

The winners will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala scheduled for Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
