The Super Eagles have qualified for the group stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers after defeating Swaziland 2-0 in the second leg of their tie in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Goals from Moses Simon and Efe Ambrose secured the win against a stubborn Swaziland side.
Austin Oboroakpo had the Eagles’ first chance in the first half after meeting a corner kick but his effort went over the bar.
In the 12th minute, Simon hit a low drive but it went straight to the Swaziland keeper.
Watford forward Odion Ighalo was put through on goal by Ogenyi Onazi but his strike went wide.
On 33 minutes, Hlatjwako Sandile had the visitors’ best chance but he blazed over the bar.
In the second half, Sylvester Igboun should have given the Eagles the lead in the 47th minute but his shot wide with the keeper to beat.
The Eagles finally broke the deadlock in the 51st minute after Simon curled in from a free kick which went over the wall and into the net.
Onazi almost doubled the lead for the Eagles with 20 minutes left but his shot was well saved by the Swaziland keeper.
Coach Sunday Oliseh introduced Obafemi Martins for Ahmed Musa and Ezekiel Joseph for Simon.
Swaziland almost snatched a goal in the 83rd minute but Carl Ikeme parried over the bar.
Then with three minutes left, Ambrose made the game safe after meeting a cross from Igboun to end the game 2-0.
