Ajax Join Man City, Liverpool In Chase For Nigerian Starlet

Ajax Amsterdam are the latest club to be linked with Nigerian youngster Funsho Bamgboye.

The Golden Eaglets forward has also attracted interest of top English sides like Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

A reliable source close to the Aspire Academy star told Complete Sports that the Dutch side are keen to secure the services of the player who was a key member of the Nigerian U-17 side that conquered the world earlier this month in Chile.

“Several clubs have indicated interest in signing Funsho, but we don’t want to do things in a hurry,” the source told Complete Sports.

“A lot of agents have also called him saying a lot of sweet things.

“Ajax are a good club, but we will be careful in determining the club he will join at the end of the day.”

The Eredivisie side have a rich history of Nigerian players who made their names at the club.

Top on the list are the duo of Finidi George and Nwankwo Kanu who won the UEFA Champions League with the club in 1995.

The likes of Tijani Babangida and Pius Ikedia have also featured for the club.
