NPFL Week 35 Round Up: Enyimba still Number One, Giwa FC go close

The Glo NPFL is in its home stretch and still the title race is as unpredictable as ever. On a week of home wins, Giwa FC goes second on the league table to join Warri Wolves and Enyimba in the hunt for the league crown.

Enyimba 1-0 Kwara United
Chinedu Udoji’s first half strike was all the Aba Elephants needed to overcome struggling Kwara United and tighten their grip on top spot.
Sitting comfortably in Number One with 65 points and just three matches left, Enyimba’s fate is totally in their own hands.

Sharks 2-1 3SC
A win for the Blue Angels ensured that for the first time this season, no Rivers state team will end the week in the bottom four.

After going behind to an unfortunate own goal,Frederick Obomate’s second half double turned things in Sharks’ favour to move the hosts to 14th on the table.

Giwa FC 3-2 Wikki Tourists
The game of the week lived up to the hype with the Jos side just edging it in dramatic fashion. Twice the home side had to come from behind against a stubborn Tourists side who led 2-1 at half time. But an Amos Gyan brace, the second in the final minute of play, turned the tide and secured all three points to lift a resurgent Giwa FC to second on the log.

Dolphins 2-0 El Kanemi Warriors
The Port Harcourt giants finally hauled themselves out of the relegation zone for the first time in blessed memory and will have goals from Godbless Asamoah to thank.

The Ghanaian import has proven a revelation in the latter stages of the season and his third goal in two games have helped the Pride of Rivers record only their second consecutive league win this season.

In other matches, FC Ifeanyi Ubah got the better of Heartland by a solitary goal. Bayelsa United are refusing to go down without a fight after humbling Abia Warriors by the same scoreline.

Three goals were scored in the game between Akwa United and Sunshine Stars, with the hosts outscoring the humbled title hopefuls.

Rangers could not shock Sai Masu Gida in Kano as Pillars came from behind to record a sweet 2-1 victory.
The match between FC Taraba and Nasarawa United was abandoned with almost a quarter of the game left to play as crowd troubles spill on to the pitch
