The game, which was coach Sunday Oliseh’s first competitive game, saw the Eagles struggle to make any meaningful impact with only new keeper Carl Ikeme distinguishing himself with several top class saves.
The skilful, pace, well-organised Tanzanians created a hatful of chances but they were thwarted by poor finishing or the excellent Ikeme, who was in the team only because Vincent Enyeama was absent after a family bereavement.
The Eagles made the first change of the game when Haruna Lukman, who had a rather poor game, was removed for debutant Sylvester Igboun in the 36th minute.
In the second half, the duo of Anthony Ujah and Emem Eduok replaced Moses Simon and Emenike, but the changes failed to yield anything meaningful.
The Eagles top the group temporarily with four points.
Their next game is against Pharaohs of Egypt, and it comes up in March 2016 in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the group’s other game between Chad and Egypt comes up on Sunday in Chad.
