Sharks vs Enyimba
Enyimba
enter week 26 of the Glo Nigeria Premier Football League top of the league table after finally usurping Sunshine Stars last week. The Aba Elephants travel to Port
Harcourt to keep a date with Sharks FC.
The hosts’
attempt at escaping relegation is gradually gaining steam but they should find
a win a difficult ask against an Aba side who have only lost thrice in 25
games.
Sharks
are the league’s draw specialists with their 11 games drawn unmatched by no
other side in the top flight.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah vs Bayelsa Utd
Ifeanyi Ubah’s resurgence under coach Daniel
Amokachi should continue as they slug it out against Bayelsa United whose
chances of escaping relegation look slimmer every passing week.
Giwa FC vs Lobi Stars
Both Giwa and Lobi would be pleased with a
mid-table finish come the end of the season.
Though, Giwa started the season
brightly but mixed fortuned mid way has robbed them of their poise and panache.
In Lobi, who were the early season candidate for relegation but has surged up
the league table in recent weeks, Giwa FC faced a side many have found
difficult to beat.
Dolphins vs Akwa Utd
Dolphins have only won five matches all season
but they claimed their biggest scalp last time out when their one-nil victory
over Sunshine Stars knocked the Akure giants off the top of the league table.
This may be the toughest time for Akwa United, who are just two slots above
Dolphins on the log, to face the giant-killers.
El-Kanemi vs Rangers
It’s a mid-table struggle between El-Kanemi and Rangers as the 12th-placed
latter size up the 14th-placed former. Rangers have a problem scoring often
away from home but against a side with the league’s worst defense (El-Kanemi
have shipped 38 goals in 25 games), anything can happen.
Wikki Tourists vs Sunshine Stars
It’s a top of the table slugfest between Wikki
Tourists and Sunshine Stars this weekend. Another loss for Sunshine Stars may
see the gap between them and Enyimba widen which should be avoided at this
stage of the season.
Wikki Tourists are no push-overs, however, with the Bauchi
Travellers boasting the fourth best defense in the league.
FC Taraba vs Kano Pillars
It is
little surprise that Taraba FC have found a comfortable spot at the root of the
NPFL table having lost the most matches (13) of any side in the league.
Boasting of only four wins to their name and the league’s second worst
defensive record, maybe now is not the right time to be playing host to a
bruised Kano Pillars.
Mai Su Gida have now lost two in a row, the most famous
being that 1-2 loss to Nasarawa United that broke a 12-year old unbeaten home
record.
