Champions League: How Nigerians Fared Across Europe


Ogenyi Onazi made his first start of the season for SS Lazio who edged Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

In Portugal, Ahmed Musa was caged for the entire duration of his side CSKA Moscow’s 2-1 loss to Sporting CP.
Islam Slimani gave Sporting an advantage ahead of the second leg when he grabbed the winner in the 82nd minute after CSKA returnee Seydou Doumbia’s 40th minute strike had cancelled out Teofilo Gutierrez’s 12th minute opener.[post_ad]
In the Championship, Hope Akpan made his second start for Blackburn Rovers who lost 1-0 to Cardiff City who didn’t feature Sammy Ameobi for the encounter. Semi Ajayi was not listed for the game at Ewood Park.
