The 22-year old has long been linked with a move away from Turin with Barcelona and Manchester City interested in him after Real Madrid made a public statement saying they aren’t interested in the Midfielder.
With Barcelona serving a transfer ban until 2016, Manchester City looked favourites to land the youngster offering more than £60million and making him one of the highest paid midfielder in the world.
However, the Daily Star has reported that Pogba is willing to turn down an offer from the Etihad team to stay in Turin for another year, waiting for Barca’s transfer embargo to be over.
The Newspaper claims that Barca have identified the France international as a long-term replacement for Xavi (who is leaving the Camp Nou for Qatar in the summer) and that a source has confirmed his interest in a switch.
“His options are unbelievable if he wants to leave Juventus, but he’s told friends that Barcelona are his no.1 choice. The attraction is obvious,” the anonymous source wrote.
Prior to his team’s UCL final clash, Pogba came out to voice his admirations for the Catalans and was full of praises for their Argentine starlet Lionel Messi.
“It would be a dream come true to play alongside Messi. He is the best in the world.” the midfielder was quoted as saying by AS.
Barcelona were handed a 14-month transfer ban in April after being found guilty of breaching FIFA rules on the transfer of players under 18 years of age.
However, the 22-year-old is believed to be willing to wait for the Catalans and could stay at the Old Lady for another season, turning down a multi-million package from Man City in the process.
The midfielder has won three Serie A titles with Juventus ever since his departure from Manchester United and will play in the Uefa Champions League final against Barca on June 6.
