The Super Eagles Is No Team – Kanu

Ahead of the qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations which starts with a home game against Le Sao of Chad in Kaduna, former Nigeria captain, Nwankwo Kanu says he doesn’t believe the Super Eagles have a team, and as a result, they will be starting from scratch.
The 38-year old former Eagles skipper says Nigeria had a team when they won the Cup of Nations in 2013 in South Africa, but says that is no longer the case.
“We had a team when we played and won the Cup of Nations in 2013,” he told SL10.
“All we needed to do was to continue with that but we started bringing in different players and were experimenting and I thought that really affected us.

“And if you ask me whether we have a team now, of course we do not have a team now. It’s like we are starting from scratch because Keshi needs to bring the players in and ensure they play to his philosophy.
“And you have a feeling it’s not going to be the same team that won the Cup of Nations and with the new faces, it is left for him (Keshi) to know what his plan is,” Kanu added.
The Super Eagles begin their qualifying campaign for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on June 13 when they host Chad’s Le Sao at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
