The Super Eagles of Nigeria, won the Afro-Asia Cup of Nations in 1995. The competition hosts the winners of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) against the champions of the Asian Games or Asian Cup, in home and away games. During the 1995 edition of the tournament, Nigeria beat Uzbekistan 4-2 on aggregate.
The competition was suspended following a CAF decision on July 30, 2000, after AFC representatives had supported Germany rather than South Africa in the vote for hosting the 2006 World Cup. The competition however was resumed in 2007 under the name “AFC Asia/Africa Challenge Cup”, but after 2007 the competition didn’t hold anymore.
