It is normal for a player to be the highest goal scorer in the history of a competitive League. However, it is very rare for that same player to still own the record for the most assists in the history of that same tournament. It is in fact, almost impossible.
Barcelona pin-sized wizard Lionel Messi is the top scorer in the history of La liga, beating Telmo Zarra’s previous record of 252 goals. However, the Argentine seems to be far from contented with that accolade and reached another milestone after he provided the assist for Neymar’s goal against Levante, becoming the player with the most assists in La liga history (as far as stats could go) with a total of 107 assists. Wow!
Few months ago, the Barcelona number 10 became the top scorer in La liga history and now his name is registered as the player with the most assist.
Barcelona registered a 5-0 win against Levante at the weekend with Messi bagging a hat-trick. His fifth hat-trick this season, his 23rd La liga hat-trick making him the player with most hat-tricks in La Liga’s history and his 31st hat-trick for Barcelona. Therefore, the 27-year old isn’t the player with the most goals and the most assists alone, but also the player with the most hat-tricks in La liga and the most hat-tricks for a spanish team. Guess what? He’s just 27. Christ!
