Milan are currently seventh on the log and Filippo Inzaghi has noticed the midfield as an area in his team that needs to strengthen and has already has penciled Paris-Saint Germanin’s Thiago Motta and Mikel as two players who can help shore up their midfield.
Mikel has been restricted to just 18 appearances in all competitions this season at Chelsea, after falling down the pecking order with manager Jose Mourinho preferring a central midfield of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic.
In the summer Mikel was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge with Milan’s rival Inter Milan, Besiktas and Schalke 04 all rumoured to be interested in his signature.
Any deal which takes Mikel Obi away from Stamford Bridge will see Marco Van Ginkel currently on loan at AC Milan return to Stamford Bridge.
