Legendary Real Madrid Goalie Breaks UCL All-time Appearance Record

Hurray to Los Blancos as their Goalie becomes the player with the most UCL Appearances in history. Iker Casillas made his Champions League bow for Real Madrid on Wednesday September 15, 1999 away at Olympiakos where the match ended 3-3.

Drag the date to Tuesday 4th November, 2014 and the iconic Spanish shot-stopper made his 144th in the 1-0 victory against Liverpool, at the Santiago Bernabéu, breaking a new Champions League appearances record in the process.
Whilst Casillas has been through a few turbulent years, with questions over his form and challenges to his position, both at Real Madrid and in the Spanish national team, reaching this quantity of appearance, whilst also laying hands on the famous trophy three times, is a truly magnificent achievement.
Although Iker may be the record holder for now, his closest rival, Xavi Hernandez is still active with FC Barcelona and has made a total of 143 appeareances, only one short of the Real Madrid goalie.
